Yagluth is literally a giant skeleton-like abomination, with only an upper body crawling across the surface. A brilliant purple glow emits from inside her body, indicating her immense magical prowess. He is indeed the last boss of the game, without this fact being definitive, since Valheim is still in development. We might see more biomes later, with more bosses, but for now, let's take a look at the final challenge this title has in store for us.
How to summon Yagluth, the final boss
Unlike other bosses, the items needed to summon Yagluth can be found in his own biome, without needing a lot of knockback. The Plains is the region in which it resides and the elements required to call it are Fuling Totems. Cinq of them to be precise, which you must place in the altar which is in a formation of stones resembling a "palm", found in this biome. They look like a hand sticking out of the ground so it's hard to miss it.
Fuling Totems can of course be looted Fuling monsters respectively. The Fuling shamans in particular, who are a rare breed of this type, are the ones who guarantee a totem drop on every kill.
How to beat Yagluth
Yagluth hits hard, VERY hard. But, thankfully, it's also extremely slow with a few wired attacks that you can dodge. This automatically means one thing, that the kite is a great option to handle that final Boss. Don't think you're safe just to have some distance between him and you, as his attacks can still hit you in some ways.
Each of his attacks has a distinct animation and glow. Raising my hand to attack you, if it shines blue, that means he's preparing an AOE ground smash, which is his melee option to hit you. Just back up and try to avoid it. If his fist shines Orange, then prepare for a meteor attack, which can hit you even from a distance. Take cover to escape the meteor shower, hiding behind objects. The pillars of the "hand" where you summoned him are actually a good suggestion of such objects to hide behind. Finally, his final skill is a literal breath of fire, which looks scary as hell. It is thrown in a straight line, with it the side strafing for as long as it lasts. Make sure to avoid this by running along his head.
With his abilities down, we now have to deal with our plan of attack. The safest route would be to grab the strongest bow and arrow you have and rain hell on it. If you haven't been involved in ranged combat much, then my personal suggestion would be either spears or a dagger. The Black Metal variants of each are the best choice, so pick the one you want. The reason I suggest these is that against Yagluth you have to use a hit 'n run tactic or else you will be crushed by his attacks. Both of these weapons are fast, so just enter, stab-stab, then run for your life. Rinse and repeat until you beat it.
Now here's the deal. After destroying this giant half-skeleton, his trophy falls of course, and another object that does not yet have a name. This is where Valheim reminds you that it is still unfinished and in development. The team behind this great title is still creating assets for the game, so Yagluth is the first softwall we're going to hit, until more content is available. Considering the huge success of the game, I doubt it will take much longer. Congratulations on reaching this stage.
Valheim is now available via Steam Early Access.
